Alright - here it is, folks!
The hubby and I are leaving for one whole year in September. Goin' to Europe to enjoy an adventure. We've been planning for a long while, and talking about it here and there, but now... plans are starting to pick up speed. Our exciting trip has now been solidified with the down-payment of a 1989 VW Camper Van!!
Check out our home for the next year...
We'll pick it up in a town near Amsterdam, and then we'll be writing to all of you with our fitness stories, food experiences, and magic bus adventures!
So...
Do you have any ideas as to what we should name our new beloved van??
Our lil white high-top beauty!!
complete w/ fridge, stove, and sink!
skylight in the upper berth
wood floors and room to sleep 4
space for the surfboards to live up top!
bike racks, just in case...
Can't wait to share more as we get closer... :)

How exciting for you! I bet you can't wait. If you get to Australia on your one year adventure, be sure and drop me a line.
Have you blogged before about 'periodization'? If so, could you point me to the posts and if not, maybe it's a topic you would like to address?
I first heard the term on Cassandra Forsythe's site in a comments section when I asked her about the routine she has recently put herself on. I've googled it and am reading up on it but would love to hear your perspective on it.
It's time to mix up my exercise routine and I'm looking for ideas/suggestions.
cheers-
Hey Sybil... good to hear from ya!
I have not blogged about periodization - but you're right, it is a fabulous topic for me to bring up in some upcoming posts.
Do you have any specific questions regarding periodization that you'd like me to answer?
Oh, and thanks for sharing in our "new home" excitement! It's pretty doubtful that we'll be making it to Australia, unfortunately :( But we will DEFINITELY be down under someday, that's for sure! And when that happens, you'll be hearing from me! :)
Hi Kim,
I guess I don't think I know enough about periodization to ask an intelligent question about it yet. From a personal perspective, I'm wondering if adding in more strength training is something I should think about or if what I'm doing is enough.
I currently do 2 Slow Burn sessions per week and have had good results with inches lost (2 inches off hips/thighs over the last 2 months). I continue to increase either reps or weight on a weekly basis. Prior to that I did more typical strength training (3x/week, 10-15 reps, 3 sets).
Recently have added HIIT (2 20min sessions) back into my schedule - plus yoga (1 90 minute class per week plus 15-30 min daily poses). Thinking about adding lap swimming or aqua aerobic class twice a week - too much land exercise negatively affects my hips (I'm 50). I'm also doing the 100 pushup challenge and do 3-5 abdominal exercises every other day.
Fat loss/scale loss continues to be slow to non-existent even though I have another 50 pounds to remove. My diet consists of whole foods, lower carb, moderate protein, higher fat - average 1600-1800 cals per day. Current weight 210.
Any suggestions? My short-term goal is to remove 20 pounds of fat in the next 3 months but the ol' body doesn't seem to be cooperating with this idea!
On the travel....I am so envious of people who take off on adventures like this - I think it's wonderful. I did something similar about 10 years ago (as a 40 year old) - took a 3 month sabbatical from my job (and never returned) and traveled Australia/New Zealand. It was the absolute best decision I ever made in my life. It changes a person profoundly when you travel outside your own country - changes that are hard to explain but truly felt within.
cheers-
